    SAPIENS Network Final Conference to take place on 20 June 🗓

    One month to go until the SAPIENS Network’s conference on sustainable public procurement! The final conference of the EU Horizon 2020 funded SAPIENS (Sustainability in International, European, and National Systems) Network will address many legal, economic, political, and management issues around public procurement and sustainability, from the protection of the environment to labour rights, fair trade, and women empowerment.     On 22 and 23 April 2024, the University of Copenhagen will host the interdisciplinary workshop ‘Green Public Procurement’, addressing GPP law and public management. This Interdisciplinary green public procurement workshop aims to address current developments and issues in the field of green public procurement. The two-day workshop will bring together researchers within law and public management from the US, Europe and Scandinavia to discuss green public procurement from different perspectives. The workshop is part of the research project PROCUREGREEN funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark. The use of framework agreements has increased in many member States over the last years and is now considered the most widespread centralizing technique, being the most used technique by central purchasing bodies.     Professor and EPLG member Carina Risvig Hamer, together with the CPB project, is hosting the Public Procurement Conference – centralization and new trends on 25-26 April at the University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Law.     On December 2, 2022, Professor Steen Treumer could have celebrated his 57th birthday. However, after fighting illness for many years, Steen Treumer passed away on August 16, 2021. On this date, the Conference ‘Into the northern light – In memory of Steen Treumer’ will be held at the University of Copenhagen, organized by CEPRI – Centre for Private Governance & WELMA – Legal Studies in Welfare and Market. Steen Treumer is a well-known name for most people working with public procurement law in Denmark and internationally and was a member of the EPLG group.     The 5th Conference on Socially Responsible Public Procurement will be held on 16-17 November in Barcelona and online. The topic of this edition will be “The promotion of a public procurement model based on the protection of human rights”. The presentations will cover the sectors of electric vehicles, electronics, health, textile and food, as well as national and local experiences in Spain, France, UK, Sweden, Norway.     SAPIENS NETWORK 5TH ADVANCED TRAINING COURSE WILL BE HELD IN LODZ, POLAND, ON 19-22 OCTOBER 2022

    The fifth SAPIENS Advanced Training Course (ATC) will be held on 19-22 October at the University of Lodz, Faculty of Organisation and Management, in the city of Lodz, Poland. The ATC includes lectures by distinguished professors and sustainability and procurement experts and will focus on tools for sustainable supply chain management, including standards, life cycle analyses, and eco-labeling as well as the role of product design and its impact on a sustainable supply chain.  Social aspects, including human rights, in supply chain management will also be discussed.
